Home Emergency Kit

Emergencies are always happen. These do not come after informing you but come suddenly and silently. So you should be prepared for any type of emergency. For that purpose there is need to prepare home emergency kit. Certain things should keep in mind while preparing home emergency kit.

 Preparation

• Select a suitable size of bag for making kit. It should be water proof. It should be large enough for keeping all necessary things. Try to select light weight bag.

• Look all things which are necessary for you. Make list all of them.

• You or your loved ones can be cut, injured or burn out. To select all necessary tools to cope up with these types of emergency.

• Find out what types of hazards can occur in your area. Include all tools in your emergency kit according to that.

• Include all sterile items like small and sharp scissors, dressings of varied size and shape, maxi pads, cotton balls, antibiotic ointment, a thermometer, gloves, sewing needles, tweezers, roller and triangle bandages, non alcoholic wipes, insect repellent, insect sting kit, CPR breathing mask etc.

• Store it at that place where it could be find easily. Tell your all house members about its location.

• Check emergency kit after some time to maintain its supplies. Some supplies have expiry dates so check them before use.

Warnings

• If you have limited space then try to include most important items.

• Some items need suitable room temperature for storage. Be careful about these types of items.
• Some supplies have expiry dates. Check them before use.
• Sterilize items like tweezers, thermometer, and scissors after each use.
• Don’t store such type of material which have toxic elements and can cause allergic.
• Any one who use emergency kit make sure to keep its all supplies balance after each use.
• Update your emergency kit regularly.
